cat mountain

here’s an excerpt from part two of two intelligent men climb cat mountain, which as mentioned before was created for cheap zine, this part is going in the final issue 10.

i’m looking forward to the forthcoming web and mini comix thing and should hopefully have some nice merchandise to sell (more on this later), as well as all our comics of course. i’m also looking forward to getting settled in our new flat in a few weeks so i can start in earnest on my next project, whether that be banal pig 5 (which ive got a few ideas for and started roughing out) or something else entirely…

new illustration section/ nice review

roll up roll up roll up! how’s about this then! if you click the link that says banalpig.com/illustration you will be taken to an as yet fairly barren part of my website where i will be posting drawings and art which are distinguished from the comics side of my work as one off or more arty images. this is an attempt to put together something resembling an illustration portfolio, i’ll let you know how i get on, but maybe bookmark it, why not?.

elsewhere, over on the always excellent forbidden planet blog, there’s a good review of Ethel Sparrowhawk’s Terrible Hangover (quite sick of typing that). if you needed a second opinion before purchasing said comic, consider this it. did i mention i was unemployed?

unemployed etc

what’s on friends? i’m in leeds now, looking for a job to pay the bills (gizza job), playing househusband and pottering about, but managing to get a bit of drawing in. here’s a preview from a contribution to an anthology i’m working on:

i cant really give much more away about this at this stage, but all will be revealed one day. i’m also doing a new “interactive” untitled cat strip, and a new covered cover and the second part of two intelligent men climb cat mountain for cheap zine. the first part is in the current issue (issue 9), available from here, so buy it why not? i’m also thinking about future projects and if i can start to make money from art (lol!), and i’ve got an extremely runny nose and a headache.

here’s a few old bits i came across when getting sorted for our big move. we’re leaving bristol on friday, going back to leeds, hence why i’ve been a bit quiet on the comics front. top is the first character sketches for ol’ bp which must be from 2002/2003, underneath is a drawing of some bloke out of the paper i did on my lunch hour at the conran shop, so it’s got to be a good 6 years old. as well as the move i’m working on a few bits of merchandise for web and mini, but there won’t be a new comic for a while i don’t think….

more art must go!

that’s right pig lovers, we’re leaving bristol in less than two weeks, so i need to jettison some more artwork. look here and get in touch as soon as you can if you like anything/everything, as i need to get it sorted before everything gets packed or ditched. happy new year!

magnets!

so here’s my first go at fridge magnets, and i’m quite happy with the magnet paper. i’ve tried a few things as you can see (as demonstrated by my diplomat fridge) and i’ve got a few options. at the moment i’m thinking either reproducing strips, and the funnies work really well for this, or doing a more interactive thing, with speech bubbles and stuff you can mess around with- you can write on the magnets too. what do you think? any ideas (or orders?) the paper is A4 so i could reproduce pretty much any strip…
